• School Liaison Program

The School Liaison Program is offered service-wide and is located in every state and country with an active-duty military installation. If your state does not have an active-duty installation, families, schools and commissioners should still connect with the closest military installation or their servicing personnel.  The SL’s provide worldwide coverage and will provide assistance – even across service branches and states.

• Military Interstate Compact (MIC3)

The Council of State Governments (CSG), in cooperation with the Department of Defense, drafted the Compact to address some of the educational challenges transitioning children of military families face. The Compact addresses key educational transition issues including enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation. In addition, the Compact provides for a detailed governance structure at both the state and national levels with built-in enforcement and compliance mechanisms.

The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) applies to active-duty members of the armed forces and National Guard/Reserve members on Title 10 orders. The Compact allows for the uniform treatment of military students alongside their civilian peers.

Brandon Elementary School supports our military-connected students with a Student-Led Transition Program. This program offers peer support to assist new military families and help them become familiar with our school. Student peers serve as mentors to our new military students and provide one-on-one support and provide information and answer any questions. Student peers are assigned according to grade level with each new military student enrollment.

•Military Recognition

  Past events include Veterans’ Day Programs, Flag Retirement Ceremony, America the Beautiful Music Programs, and 9/11 Remembrance Day.

  This holiday season we recognized the men and women of the 113th MP Company from our local MS Army National Guard Unit located in Brandon, MS. Student-donated goods were shipped to our troops who are stationed in Ft. Greely, Alaska. Holiday care packages included non-perishable food items, games, toiletry and personal care items along with hand-written cards from students.
